Properties of petroleum jelly

Petroleum jelly has excellent health and beauty properties, but little is known about the origin and provenance of this product.

It is obtained from residues from petroleum distillation, but it is a purified mixture of semi-solid hydrocarbons.

While it doesn’t sound great to use a petroleum product as an ointment or medicine, it has very good protective properties. The use of petroleum jelly has no negative health effects.

Use of petroleum jelly for cosmetic and health purposes

Lip balm

Simply apply some petroleum jelly to your lips to protect them all year round and prevent them from drying out. This cream also gives a nice shine.

Good cream for hands and feet

Petroleum jelly is excellent for treating dry heels and feet or rough hands. Apply some of it in a circular motion and then put on socks or gloves to intensify the effect.

The skin absorbs petroleum jelly very well. If necessary, rinse it off with a little water after about 15 minutes. This will make your skin soft and supple.

For removing make-up

Vaseline is a good alternative for removing make-up from mascara (even waterproof ones!) Or make-up and at the same time to care for the sensitive eye area.

As a moisturizer

After a bath or shower, apply some petroleum jelly as a body lotion to help moisturize the skin.

For a peeling

 Mix a little petroleum jelly with two spoonfuls of sugar or salt and you have an excellent exfoliator for the body and face. This mixture is also ideal for removing dead skin cells from the lips.

Simply apply first with circular movements and then let it work for a few minutes. Then use a toothbrush (which you no longer use) or an exfoliating glove to help improve the result.

After depilation

Whether with wax or a razor, after hair removal the skin is usually dry and rough. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly first, then wait for it to soak in. This makes the skin look supple and well-groomed.

As a rouge

First mix a little lipstick with petroleum jelly and then apply it as a blush. This will undoubtedly last for hours.

Protect the scalp when coloring hair

If your fingers are a little swollen and the ring is difficult to remove, petroleum jelly can help.

For wound healing

Petroleum jelly is known to be good for wound healing, especially after surgery. By the way, this cream is also used to protect the skin after tattoos.
