Balcony vegetable gardens have recently become very popular. Many city balconies have turned into veritable miniature gardens, which have become a stress-relieving hobby and can offer inexpensive ecological food.

  • Carrots are rich in carrots, an antioxidant that contains vitamin A and also protects our general health.
  • They also contain potassium, vitamin E and vitamins from the B group.
  • Note that with this growing method, the carrots are slightly smaller than normal and are therefore very suitable for salads. 

Follow these steps to grow your own carrots without buying seeds.

You need

  • 5 carrots
  • 1 pot (30 cm high and 50 cm long)
  • Earth with organic substrate or compost
  • liquid fertilizer

  • Cut off the top of the carrots. This is very easy to do, just remember as you cook, not to throw that part of the carrot in the trash.
  • Then place the 5 cut carrots in a container with water (see illustration above). After a few weeks, the carrots will begin to sprout.
  • Once the time has come, you can then transplant them into a pot.
  • First fill in stones so that the water can drain off well.
  • You can grow the carrots at any time of the year.
  • Carrots love the sun, so don’t be afraid to leave the pot on the balcony.
  • They should be watered 2-3 times a week, adding a few drops of fertilizer to the water. This is how your carrots will grow healthy and strong.

How do we know when the carrots can be harvested? So when can we pull on their green? They take about 2 months to grow.

Pay attention to the length of the green, which should be between 5 and 8 cm.

The carrots do not always have the typical shape, they can also grow a little thicker and more voluminous. Let yourself be surprised.
