What Makes You “different” Makes You Unique!

Those who accept their otherness as uniqueness have the chance to develop an individual character. Be yourself!

What makes you "different" makes you unique!

What sets you apart from others makes you unique and special. Because what would the world be if we were just clones of each other, with cloned, same thoughts, feelings and actions?

What kind of society would that be? In any case without spontaneity, creativity and a little bit of magic …

Your appearance is unique from birth . No two faces are alike, you have more or less moles, long or short legs, a large or small nose, thin or thick fingers, dark or light hair.

It all depends on you what you make of the properties given to you by nature!

Uniqueness as a flaw in youth

In young people of all generations we can see again and again how hard they try to do the same to others. They copy each other ‘s style of clothing, hear the same music, rave about the same stars, have the same opinions and behaviors.

One copies the other, so that some young people are no longer perceived as individuals but as a “mass”. According to the motto “all the same!”.

The young people try to be assimilated by the group, to become “invisible” and thereby divert attention from themselves and from insecurity. You define yourself as a group to:

  • Hide fears and
  • to hide yourself when you think you are “different”.

Many young people believe that people who are “different” are also “strange” at the same time. Young people often react to the slightest “otherness” of other young people or fellow human beings by being rejected by the group.

This often leads to psychological difficulties for young people who are excluded from the community.

It is therefore important that adults not only recognize the situation in their direct social environment, but teach them to these young people and show that they are valuable people despite their otherness, which is perceived as a “defect”.

They have very individual characteristics that make them fully-fledged members of our society.

We adults should teach them that

    • it is important to be “at peace” with yourself and
    • accepting yourself for who you are.
    • The young people must be taught and learn to recognize for themselves that
    • nobody has the right to judge negatively about them and their otherness and
    • that “being different” has nothing to do with “being worse than others”.
    • Only those who are different from others become irreplaceable.
    • Some “flaws” are really just “character”.
    • Often true beauty lies in the asymmetry of a face.

Of course, this presupposes that the young person concerned adheres to certain norms with regard to his health and hygiene and that this is not the reason for his being an outsider.

Leave traces – you are unique

What if we were all the same Then how could we leave a lasting impression on other people, footprints in their hearts and memories? Then how could there be feelings like love and hate when all are the same?

It is therefore important that everyone shapes their own characteristics into their own personality and grows with this personality.

We should formulate our own thoughts and ideas and realize them in order not only to develop ourselves further as a person, but also to lead others as an inspiring example on their own path to individual personality with their own character.

But it is not always easy to be “different”:

    • Anyone who thinks differently appears to be different on the outside.
    • Those who do something differently than others are quickly classified as strange.
    • Even those who dress differently are often prejudiced too quickly.

But none of these things should prevent us from maturing with all our peculiarities into a very special and unique person with an individual character. This is a lesson that we young people in their uniformity should teach.

    Accept the otherness

    • Be yourself and accept your otherness as your personal character that makes you unique.
    • Be yourself and not a copy of others.
    • Take criticism seriously, but not too much to heart.
    • Not everyone has to like your otherness and you.
    • Try to realize something unique, positive every day that will make your personality grow and mature.
    • Accept and recognize your personal limits. But also realize that the greatest limits only exist in your head!

Knowing that you are unique and therefore different from everyone else is in the vast majority of cases an advantage over everyone who tries to swim with the crowd and go under with it.

Those who are unique leave a lasting impression, wear their character and personality with pride and see this as a characteristic of their individuality and not as a flaw. Be different, be unique! Be yourself
