Cornstarch is very useful in many recipes, for example you can use it to prepare delicious pudding or gluten-free dishes.

However, the fine white powder is very versatile and can be very useful for numerous other uses as well. You can use it to make cosmetic treatments or household products, for example.

1. Skin irritations can be treated with cornstarch!

Uses for cornstarch: anti-irritant agent

One of the alternative uses for cornstarch is to treat skin irritations. The vitamins and minerals contained in cornstarch are very helpful here.

You can use this home remedy to  relieve itching and promote the healing process. 

ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (20 g)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (5 g)
  • Water (as much as necessary)

preparation

  • Put the cornstarch in a bowl and mix it with the water until it becomes a thick paste.
  • Add the coconut oil and stir everything well.

application

  • Apply the paste to the affected areas of the skin and leave it on for half an hour.
  • Then rinse the wound with cold water and repeat the process at least three times a week.

2. Removing ink stains

Ink stains are often difficult to remove, and they make our lives difficult, especially on furniture.

Fortunately, these stains are fairly easy to remove with cornstarch.

ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (20 g)
  • 2 tablespoons of milk (50 ml)

preparation

  • Mix the cornstarch with the milk until it becomes a thick paste.

application

  • Apply the paste to the stains, rub it in, and leave it on for 15 minutes.
  • As soon as everything is dry you can brush off the home remedy and thus remove the stain.

3. Cornstarch against greasy hair

Cornstarch absorbs the fat and is therefore  perfect for treating greasy hair. You can apply it to the scalp to remove excess sebum and dandruff.

ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (20 g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (5 g)
  • Water (as much as necessary)

preparation

  • Mix the cornstarch and baking soda in a bowl. Then add water until it becomes a thick paste.

application

  • Wet your hair, separate it into several strands, and apply the paste from roots to ends.
  • Let the home remedy work  for half an hour, then wash it off.
  • Repeat the application at least twice a week.

4. Uses for cornstarch: mask against blackheads

Starch regulates sebum production and removes dead cells. This home remedy is therefore also very effective for acne.

This mask works particularly well in combination with egg white.

ingredients

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (10 g)

preparation

  • Pinch the egg white and mix with the cornstarch.

application

  • Spread the mask over your face, focusing on the areas with the most blackheads.
  • Let it sit for half an hour and then wash it off with warm water.
  • Repeat the application up to three times a week.

5. Starch against athlete’s foot

Starch changes the environment in which fungi and bacteria feel good,  because it absorbs sweat on the feet. 

In combination with coconut oil, an excellent home remedy for athlete’s foot is created.

ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (20 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of coconut oil (45 g)

preparation

  • Melt the coconut oil and mix well with the starch.

application

  • Massage the paste well into your feet.
  • Let it sit for 40 minutes, then wash it off.
  • Repeat this treatment every evening until your skin condition improves.
