Natural Fragrances For Our Hair

Monoi oil from Tahiti provides moisture and protects the hair from the sun’s rays. It also smells pleasantly of vanilla. If you use it frequently, you won’t need hair masks.

Natural fragrances for our hair

Our hair is constantly exposed to environmental influences. Because of this, it easily absorbs odors (cigarette smoke, sweat, etc.). Often this happens at the most inopportune moment and unfortunately we cannot always wash the hair straight away. However, there are natural scents that ensure that our hair smells pleasantly.

More and more products are being offered on the market to perfume hair without having to wash it first. In this article, however, we would like to focus on natural fragrances while  naturally protecting the head of hair with wonderful fruity, exotic or floral aromas. These do not contain alcohol that dries out the hair, but they have therapeutic effects that are good for the hair.

Monoi oil

Monoi oil, also known as Monoi Tiare de Tahiti, is an excellent natural cosmetic product that can be used for both the body and the hair. It is made by maceration of the Tiare flowers (Gardenia Tahitensis) and burial of coconut oil and has a very special vanilla-like scent.

This natural fragrance is particularly suitable for the summer months. The oil perfumes and gives the hair softness and a special shine at the same time. It also protects against aggressive sunlight. It is rich in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, gives the hair the necessary moisture and repairs it perfectly. With regular use, hair masks are no longer necessary after washing.

However, we do not recommend it for oily hair.

Flower extracts

Flower extracts are obtained from the distillation of the plants during the production of oil essence. The extract is the water that is left over from making the oil. Flower extracts contain water-soluble elements, trace elements and a small amount of the plant’s oil essence, so they still retain the plant’s flavors and properties but are much milder and less concentrated. They are not very well known anymore, but were used for healing purposes as early as ancient times.

We especially recommend the following flower extracts :

  • Orange blossom extract: Orange blossoms have an incomparable and attractive aroma, with a calming effect. The extract regulates sebum production on the scalp.
  • Rosemary Extract : Rosemary has long been used for cosmetic and health purposes. This plant improves blood circulation, prevents hair loss and regulates scalp problems. Rosemary also has a cleansing effect and has a refreshing herbal aroma.
  • Peppermint extract : This extract is very refreshing. It is ideal for the warm summer time, when the scalp sweats the most. Peppermint also helps prevent dandruff.

You should definitely make sure to buy pure quality products, as there are many artificial substances on the market as natural.

Rose water

Rose water is mostly used in Indian culture and tradition. It   has a particularly lovely and feminine scent. Rose water has a stabilizing and regenerating effect and is a great antioxidant. We recommend this aroma for special and intimate occasions as it has aphrodisiac properties  .

Lavender tea concentrate

Lavender has very powerful cleansing and calming effects and an irritating aroma. It is very easy to use: a very concentrated lavender tea is simply applied to the hair.

This scent is very gentle and can also be used for children several times a day.

Essential oils

Without a doubt, using essential oils is the easiest way to create natural hair fragrances. Here a few drops of oil essence are mixed with a little water according to taste and choice and applied to the hair with a spray. We recommend the following:

  • Ylang-Ylang : has an intense floral scent that has aphrodisiac properties.
  • Mandarin : is very sweet and refreshing, has calming properties and improves the state of mind.
  • Bergamot : This aroma is key to many delicious black teas. A special aroma that has anti-depressant properties.
  • Jasmine : a gentle, fine and soothing aroma that combines well with other fragrances.
  • Lemon : Lemon is refreshing and can be mixed with other citrus flavors.

    How are natural fragrances used?

Natural fragrances in the form of perfume or scented water are sprayed onto the hair from a distance of approx. 20 cm so that the liquid is distributed over the entire hair without it becoming too damp. You can also massage or comb your hair to properly distribute the scent.

We recommend that you always have the spray in your pocket so that you can use it at any time.
